While venturing off with Jen to feed our appetites at the local Ganache bakery, we barely made it in time to get a piece of my favorite black cow cake. Upon leaving the store I noticed Jen stalled from getting into the car. I hear a , “ummmm…. Michael, (you can tell it wasn’t good by the tone of her voice….) did someone hit your car???” I think at that time all this blood rushed to my head and a vein popped out. I said.. ” Doo wha(in so many words give or take)???” Yes, lo and behold someone hit my car and left no note. The best I can think of was it either happend the night before in my own parking lot or it happened in the cul de sac where I park it for the days I carpool. So no, my car I love so much wasn’t hit by an Elon student which so could have happened. Whoever it was…thanks for not fessing up.

You may not see beautiful rainbows or smell exotic flowers but when you arrive, you can sure tell when life’s a beach. (okey so that tourist phrase is over done) This weekend was spent with the appearance of my sister as well as my parents, 4 other friends of my mom’s (all women…poor dad) and last but not least Jen my girlfriend. Traffic wasn’t so bad since years past, but that could be due to conserving tourists. The fireworks on the other hand, were in no means cut back. It also gave me an opportunity to shoot moving objects at night with my D80, which proved to be a bit of a challenge.

Ironically as it sounds, with 5 days left until the release of the new 3G iPhone, my taped up “bobo” Verizon Wireless Razer phone is on its last leg. Friday it decided to only allow me to answer phone calls and hit the power on/off button. That’s it!! No volume control, no text messaging no calling someone’s phone number. I now only rely on people calling me…which may not be a bad thing. We’ll see how this coming Friday goes with the release of Apple’s phone and if I decide on buying it. I’m not a big person for last minute commitments on expensive things right when they come out.

Another odd thing that happened, just as we were returning back from the beach. I was filling up the gas tank at the famous I-95 Hess/DQ truck stop, when low and behold my car milage reads 99999. I was shocked, I forgot how close my car was to 100k. After Jen returned from finding out the women’s rest-a-room was out-of-order, we got in the car, rode to the back end of the gas station where a parking lot full of truck parking spaces all stood vacant. We proceded to drive in donuts until this baby hit 100,000 on the dot. Fleeing from two trucks driving through the parking lot, victory was mine in a few minutes after doing countless circles. Jen and I were cracking up hysterically, I kept saying this should have been video recorded on my camera but it was fun enough remembering the thought. For me a car hitting 100,000 miles is a big deal. I can remember the exact spot I hit 100,000 in my old Integra. It’s when you know your car is just broken in, at least for my Acura. If you treat them right they’ll last forever…I look forward to the next 100,000 miles….

So in my opinion, Top Gear I think is one of the best reviewer of exotic cars out there. For those who don’t know who Top Gear is or even what they do. Top Gear is two things, first its a television series aired on the BBC hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. Secondly they publish an amazing magazine that will cost you about $8 by the time it hits the US newsstands. From the shows to the magazine, these guys have a way of describing exquisitely each ride that they partake in. You really get a sense of how it feels to be in what seems to be an untouchable hand-crafted piece of machinery. These guys have it all, or do they?I’m not sure who gave them the wild idea of heading to the US so that they could taunt the southerners…but they did. Their mission was to head to the Dixie Land in search of true rednecks. They actually did a good job of blending in by dressing the same even driving southern cars…a beatup white pickup truck, a blue Cadillac and an old Camaro. But what you don’t know is what they had written across the vehicles. You’ll just have to see to find out. …I don’t think they will be welcomed back.
